Who we are

Building a data-driven future for Nigerian education

The Nigeria Education Data Initiative (NEDI) is a strategic project spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) to transform the nation’s educational landscape through the power of data. With a clear vision to modernize and unify how education data is collected, stored, and used across Nigeria, NEDI serves as a central, secure, and intelligent repository of educational information—spanning from Basic to Tertiary levels and including Non-Formal Education programs.

At its core, NEDI is built to bridge existing data gaps, improve transparency, and support evidence-based decision-making for educators, policymakers, and stakeholders. It is a national step forward toward a smarter, more connected education system—one that truly reflects the progress and potential of every learner.

Who we are

To build a robust, data-driven education ecosystem where every learner and institution in Nigeria is represented, understood, and empowered through accessible, real-time, and secure data.

Mission

To centralize Nigeria’s educational data into a single, secure platform, enabling effective student tracking, institutional performance measurement, and evidence-based policymaking at all levels.

Who we are

Building a data-driven future for Nigerian education

The Honourable Minister of Education recognizes that reliable data is the backbone of effective educational planning. From policy formulation to resource allocation and curriculum improvement, data helps ensure every decision is timely, relevant, and impactful. NEDI is a direct response to this vision—an effort to consolidate scattered datasets, remove inefficiencies, and ensure Nigeria’s education system is guided by facts, not assumptions.

Through NEDI, the Ministry seeks to:
